We are talking about a scenario where his greatest strength, his mobility and running ability is gone.
So we can name any nfl mvp and when you take away their greatest strength they don’t have much ability.

And I didn’t say he did t have any ability, I said ability matters in response to you saying coaching matters and implying coaching can magically make the weaknesses I described go away.
Do you expect newton to play the same style he did in 2015? Because the discussion was based upon that he wouldn’t.

Well, you would need to see him on the field to make that assumption, wouldn’t you? How about we wait until then..

Side note: Great coaching can most certainly mask weaknesses. That’s precisely what Norv Turner did for Cam in 2018-2019 pre-injury, and the same will occur with Josh & Bill. That was the whole point..

Perhaps you should have thought that before responding to my comments about 2 different scenarios, one where he plays like he used to, and the other where he tries to become a pocket passer.

It’s not at all what turner did with Newton. All Turner did was make his competition percentage look higher. They didn’t win. They didn’t take advantage of what McCaffrey was giving them to be a better offense. They just turned newton making plays into newton dumping off to mccaffrey with worse overall results.

Of course coaching can help players but that doesn’t mean every player that plays for a good coach is suddenly greatly improved.

Yep, changing offensive coordinators to improve a teams offense is the way it works. See Todd Haley and the Steelers for example. The short passing game has ALWAYS been what Brady excels at.

Nope, BB and the Pats wont have Newton running around and expose himself to further injury. Newton will stand in te pocket and pick his spots to run here and there.

Opinion noted and I really hope either you are wrong or Stidham is ready.

Pretty sure those were the same sentiments when Brady was behind the scenes quietly taking the job from Bledsoe. Let's hope history repeats.

I doubt they signed Cam to sit on the bench. He'll be the starter unless he flops.

    Just stating facts.

NE went from 40 -1 to win the Super Bowl with Stidham to 17 - 1 with Newton.

That is meaningless to me, and irrelevant to the argument of how newton will okay if he abandons the running part of his game, the part that made him most effective.

Im not even a Newton fan but I can agree with people in the know that NE is back in the 2020 Super Bowl conversation.

    Stidham is hope and change.

It’s not “people in the know” it’s the general impression of people placing bets. It’s band value not football analysis.

ill end it this way, and you can go ahead and have whatever last word you wish:
If Newton is going to be a true dual threat QB (and with his size he has unique dual threat abilities) then he will be the QB and we will mold an offense that will be different and effective.
If Newton is going to not be a dual threat and try to be a pocket passer who only runs when absolutely necessary he will be one off the worst QBs in the nfl and will end up losing the job to Stidham whether before or during the season.

You will always get the last word. Ive seen you drag out threads into weeks on end arguing over where to split peas.

Wrong on Vegas. They set the new line when Cam was signed. Nobody with a brain was betting Pats as 2020 Super Bowl winner with Stiffman. 17 - 1 is right in the neighborhood of Tampa, Seattle, Dallas and Philly. The Pats chances are realistic, now.

NFL people in the know are the ones that paid to cover the NFL for a living. Many cannot deny that Newton gives the Pats a much better shot at the post season. Its what it is. Newton brings Rep. BB is about TEAM and winning and Newton gives the Pats the best odds to win ball games. NOT RUNNING. BB is not going to roll Newton out there and let him play Mike Vick coming of lis franc surgery.

    Stiffman is a dream.

I don’t know how it will work out for Newton. Injuries is my major concern.
One thing I do know. If he is on the bench he will be causing a stink
He took peanuts to prove himself so that he can get a big payday next year
He will snarl his way off the team and try and hook up with a team that has an injury and needs a QB desperately so he can try and prove himself there.
If Stidham beats him out then Cam is gone
No way BB deals with a QB controversy

Stidham provided one chance at a potentially solid passing attack in 2020, Stidham and Cam provide two... outside of wanting to make a winning prediction (guess) nobody knows anything.

I only care that they increased their odds of getting it right for 2020 and so does Bill. He'll play whomever gives them the best chance to win.

Assuming Stidham sucks now or prior to acquiring Cam is equally narrow sighted and negative, nobody knows how he will react to playing on the big stage including Bill. He likes his prospects and skillset like many of us, but nobody can read the hearts of men.

    Can you clarify this?
The paid him literally the minimum. Less than a backup. He had no offers from anyone else. What would imply they wouldn’t have signed a guy off the street at the minimum to be a back up, or compete?

I think he took peanuts because peanuts was the only offer.

Lombardi clearly saying he sees Cam as a starter and a top 10 QB. Not much to disagree with. As always it will be about health.

Keep in mind his son is our assistant QB coach and we all know how connected to BB he is.
