Now that the ink is dry and a new era begins for both men, I think we can play the legacy game. It's long been believed, and even rumored, that BB wants to prove he can win without Brady. And since it is believed that there is at least some resentment on Brady's part toward BB at this point (and likely the past few seasons), it would probably be fair to say Brady desires the same. It creates an interesting hypothetical situation to me...

So, let's say Brady plays until 45 and BB remains a HC... if it's an absolute guarantee that one will win a SB in that span, and it can only be ONE, which of these men do you think it'll be? Which of these men do you want it to be?

If either wins a title soon, it will be Brady.

That's less about who is more important overall (it's Belichick), and more about the time it will take to find a new franchise QB & rebuild the roster vs. how much longer Brady plays. I think the timing is basically either Brady wins immediately, nor neither of them do before he retires in 1-2 years or whatever.

If Belichick coaches another 10 years or something I can see him getting 1-2 more titles, but landing your franchise QB is such a crapshoot that it's hard to say how it plays out.

Next year, Brady has the advantage. Tampa has a pretty good team overall, while the Pats do not (yet).

But it will exponentially go towards Bill in the next few years

Brady is heading an offense loaded with elite talent. The Pats are rebuilding based off the fact that we are letting key players leave and prioritizing signings of special teamers and full backs. Easy answer

Brady is the easy call. Pats have holes in O and D.

Bucs have a lot of cap room to make trades to go all in the next two years.

I see it as a wash.. this is an unprecedented amount of cap space for the Pats..

In 2020 the Pats have 12 Million in cap space..
In 2021 the Pats are projected to have almost 120 million in cap space...
In 2020 the Bucs have 24 million in cap space
In 2021 the Bucs right are projected to have 95 million in cap space..

Last year was a freak mess in NE. Devlin getting hurt, the offensive line, Patriots not believing Gronk that he was really out, then AB comes in, they cut guys they would have otherwise kept and then AB goes nuts, Brady has a hissy fit that they cut AB. I don't think many of us were surprised about their lack of success in the playoffs and none of us were particularly optimistic about this year. Brady is going to a very solid team that was crippled by a turn over machine at QB. This is Manning (a better Manning) going to the Broncos. Tom has a better chance at a SB now than the Patriots but even if this happens, its not a loss for BB. Patriots weren't going to the SB this year even with Brady. A BB win will be playoffs again in 2 years.

    Both.
Belichick gets to rebuild the team.
Brady has 2 years to shoot at playoff greatness.
My only question is about whether Belichick will have the assistant coaches needed to build. Losing Joe Judge and Dante is going to hurt him, especially after he lost Flores the year before.

2020....I give the nod to Brady.

2021....I think we will be very good after two deep drafts. We have 12 picks in April...then a TON of comp picks coming for the 2021 draft. We are solid on the OL...if we can replace Cannon who is a bit long in the tooth now AND Andrews remains healthy. And the D is still very good in the secondary....I like our chances. I really look forward to rooting against Brady in Foxboro in 2021!

I never even gave the assistants aspect any thought. Good point.

I am a Patriots fan, I voted for BB.

That being said, if Tom wins one and it is not against us, I'll be very happy for him. I will try to watch the Bucs a lot next year, just for Tom. Pats have always, is still and will forever be my #1 though. Laundry, not name plates.

    They are both winners, regardless.

The Beatles broke up. Neither L, nor Mc ever wrote as many hits on his own - even though both were successful. Both were winners because no one can ever take away the music they put out there in the 60s. Regardless of their post Beatles careers.

How many wins an almost 70 year old BB or how many wins a 43-45 year old Brady does nothing to change the fact that both men were instrumental in winning 6 SBs.

How about China killed a man.

I am sick of Trump calling it the China Virus BTW. He needs to stop this and call it its official name: Chinese Originated Viral Infectious Disease 2019, COVID 19

Neither. The Bucs aren't doing anything, and BB has absolutely nothing to work with. No qb, wrs, rbs, te, lb and a weak D line. Can you win with an average OL and a good secondary? That's all the Pats have. They are in complete rebuild mode, and I'm not sure BB has the time to see it through.

BB will have McDaniels to coach up the O and himself to coach up the D with a system that's been in place and evolving over his whole coaching career.

Tampa will have the Arians with his system, Leftwich with whatever he knows, plus Tom, all needing to find a way to mesh in an off season with no off season activities and Tom less engaged than he used to be.

I think Tampa really needs to find an ex-Pats coach or two to help get the system Tom worked in for 20 seasons installed in Tampa.

I think trying to teach Tom the Arians system is a terrible idea. The reason you pay him ~$60M for two seasons is because he can process information at an elite level, and you don't want him having to translate things in his head to get the rest of the team in sync with him.

We also know that Tom freezes out dudes who can't get on the same wavelength as him.

As above I think Tom is more likely to have success in the next two years, but there's lots of things that have to be accomplished for that to happen. On the other hand, BB will need hugely successful drafts and luck in the free agent and cap casualty market for NE to be a contender.

The Pats had two coaches work with Scar as assistants, plus Scar is still helping the team with grocery shopping on OL.
