Wanna go ahead and jump in to say this here on record lol, because I thought about making this it’s own thread...but here goes.

Everyone here should be ready for the “haters” to come out of the woodwork if and when Cam has an “off” game or half. It’s an amazing phenomenon I’ve observed for years. You may not hear much from these people now, but best believe they are there, waiting. From posters here to national media to local media types, be ready when it comes. Glad the OP here reminded me about this, especially with the “panthers friend” who said not to be excited about signing Cam.:notsaying::rofl:

There has already been hints of it even in the Dolphins game thread, with one genius saying Cam’s play would have been “hideous” if not for the running ability! At least these people are insanely easy to spot.

I realize the Pats wife receivers are lackluster after Edelman, but my impression of Cam is that he has never been able to really develop a strong passing game to WRs and usually is more involved with RBs and TEs. Is that accurate?

No that's not really accurate. In Carolina the issue was never about Cam developing a strong passing game to WRs, it was more about having average to below-average WRs his entire tenure aside from an aging Steve Smith for his first three years.

After Steve Smith, the list of Cam's next best WRs is pretty awful. You've got Kelvin Benjamin, former first round pick who barely lasted four years in the NFL. Cam should receive some type of award for making him into a 1,000 yard receiver lol. Then you have Devin Funchess, who is a WR3 at best on most teams. Ted Ginn Jr, Jericho Cotchery, Philly Brown, Jason Avant, Brenston Bersin for god's sake. You get the picture. Most teams try and build around their franchise QB, the Panthers made him carry the offense on his shoulders for years.

I don't even want to imagine what the Panthers offense would have looked like if they hadn't fleeced the Bears out of Greg Olsen for a third rounder. Olsen in his prime was one of the top receiving tight ends in football with Cam throwing it.

Well, he’s pretty much being asked to do that here as well considering our WRs outside of Edelman are pretty trash and we have no idea what the TE position consists of due to it being primarily staffed by two rookies and a JAG.

Yeah this is true. I said awhile back if the offensive line can just be average, Cam has the ability to carry this team if healthy . More weapons would be nice, but Cam has made due in similar circumstances. The key to me is the offensive line giving him a chance. Many times in Carolina the left tackle position was a turnstile.

Which is absolutely true, but NO team had a pre-season.

Seahawks scored 38
Packers scored 43
Vikings scored 34
Bills scored 27
Washington scored 27
Ravens scored 38
Raiders scored 34
Panthers scored 30
Jags scored 27
Saints score 34
Bears scored 27
Falcolns scored 25

It's not like there was a lack of scoring around the league.

They all didn't play a pre-season.

They still did more than 14 points in 55 minutes.

Are you blaming Cam for the missed 10 points? FG before half and fumble at one? Should have been 31.
Now you can rip Folk and Harry. Cam wasn't the issue.

I thought the Pats offense played very well. Only 3 punts and they controlled the clock and the lead throughout. Run heavy offense is main reason the game ended 20 minutes before most others. Only bad possession was right after the pick in Jets territory. They are obviously a work in progress and we still do not know what they have at WR/TE and we may not know until halfway through the season.

There is a lot of praise for Cam and how the offense performed on here.

I feel like I watched a completely different game.

- Playing one of the worst teams in the league last year, the offense had 7 points going into halftime, and 14 points through 55 minutes(!), despite the defense getting two interceptions which put them in Miami territory off the bat.

- Cam's passing wasn't bad, but it was very little substance. Nearly all short throws. He had 2 passes all game that were in the air further than 15 yards.

- It was all his legs. I'm not against running but keep in mind that Miami was DEAD LAST (#32) in the league last year in passing defense. They gave up 39 passing TD's last year and 4,200 passing yards. Yet Cam couldn't squeak out more than 155 yards, 0 TD's and a 79 QBR?

I was big on Cam before he signed in NE. My buddy who is a Panthers fan said "don't be". And I'm starting to agree with them. 14 points in the first 55 minutes play is not cool - especially against the Dolphins.

I guess I just don't understand where all the praise is coming from. I didn't think much in that game deserved praise (from the offense).
If Harry doesn't fumble through the endzone its a different ballgame. That's not on Cam, the OL or any other player.

They dominated and controlled the game with a powerful ground attack, which drastically shortened the game and the number of offensive series each team had. So just the fact that it was a shorter game with less offensive possessions can explain the lower score, but the obvious is that they had a game clock controlling scheme going into that game and executed it to perfection

Why sling the ball all over the yard and reveal deeper layers of our offense when they don't have to?

Also, its week 1 with no preseason and Cam has been on the team for what, a month?

Was the user name a give away?

A quick google search came up with only one other identical user name, and it is at Jet Nation.

I suppose there's nothing worth talking about over there, so the next best thing is to hope for your rival to perform poorly.
think he is more a Bills fan than a jete crawling out of the woodwork after spending the past 20 years hiding away.... he spends an awful lot of time knob polishing Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills here and over there...

Wow...stanning for Josh Allen is going to end so badly. Dude sucks.

I'm not saying they will or they won't, I'm just saying IF that happens, it kinda says a lot about the state of the NE offense.
So what you are saying is that a made up result of a game that hasn’t been played yet says a lot about the state of the patriots offense? The one that had 29 first downs, was inches and a chunked short fg away from 31 points and ran for 217 yards while completing 79% of their passes and converting 50% on 3rd down?

ok so if buffalo fumbles at the 1, misses a short FG and still scores 35 points, completes 90% of their passes, converts 65% of 3rd downs, run for 275 yards, have 35 first downs then our offense sucks.
