Seriously - I had ZERO idea so many people watched it. I never gave him a chance until all of a sudden on election night it was clear that he had a shot. Then I woke up the next day and he was president.

LOL, only then did I see how excited all his fans were that he won. Although, I still haven't gone back and watched an episode yet. Shows you what I know ;)

    Thanks for your well wishes.

We could talk for days about this. Her hospice not only hasn't tested anyone but hasn't really done much aside from sending literature on how to talk to patients. Asking nurses to reuse the one mask they have. Imo they are spreading this to and from the patients and employees. A bunch of employees have called in sick.

I told my wife to stop working over these concerns. She got a note from a Dr to self quarantine for 14-days after showing symptoms. Her hospice immediately blocked her access to their system and locked her phone. HR person called and told her to go thru Guardian for STD. HR lady said they don't need to honor Congress bill because they have more than 500 employees. They're just a money making machine with no concern for their patients or employees.

    Stay well.

I think that we need to consider these two separate conclusions.

GETTING KNOWN IN THE EARLY STATES
Yes, his TV fame did give Trump the opportunity to be known in Iowa and NH. His TV fame did get him an audience. However 15 others had that audience. Many were well know, certainly in some areas of the country. All went through debates. Some camped out in Iowa for a year. Their VIEWS were known. Their QUALIFICATIONS were known. Their PAST was known. The media made sure of all these, as did the debate. I would guess that at least a dozen candidates were very well known.

    GETTING THE VOTES
Getting votes is a different matter entirely. For example, Jeb Bush was known by everyone. That did NOT translate into votes. A few candidates spent an entire year, literally camped out in Iowa, presenting their case to the votes. For most of them, the did NOT translate into votes.

    WHAT WE CANNOT ACCEPT
is that 30% of the country genuinely supports Trump and his views, then and continue now. That number got a bit larger when a fair percentage of Cruz supporters became part of Trump's base.
IMO, 30%-40% of Americans genuinely support Trump and support his views and goals. His base is indeed anti-intellectual and anti-science. That shouldn't be a surprise. What has amazed me is that so many of Trump's base have stood together with us all at this crucial time, even given the rantings each evening on television.

So almost 46k new cases already today (almost a 50% increase over the 33.5k new cases yesterday). So much for flattening the curve.

It’s coming though. There are quite a few signs indicating that, thankfully. Any news on the death toll for today? I’ve seen that the market rallied but haven’t seen anything on what the body count is thus far.

Not sure he’ll get mopped up in a debate. That’s what I thought initially then I watched his final debate against Bernie and was surprised. Biden was sharp on stage. He’ll be better than Hilary, that’s for sure.

That was pretty cool. Not just because it happened to the qiefs either.

Didn’t know the 3rd goalie had to sit in the stands? Does he travel with team and sit in visitor stands too?

The idea of flattening the curve doesn't make much sense because people are treating the US like it's one area.

The NYC curve may be flattening, as in it has is no longer doubling from roughly 600 deaths per day.

Other metro areas/states are in their own phase of outbreak. Some are doubling exponentially (New Jersey, Georgia, Michigan) while others may have actually avoided it (California.)

But the idea of the US deaths/cases being an isolated number to analyze doesn't work and will lead to a lot of bad predictions, which are already happening.

Yeah, but God love him, Jeb wasn't as charismatic and still didn't have as big of a following. Being popular in the political arena isn't the same as being popular on TV, especially when the two demographics align (and the older demographics do tend to show up in bigger numbers at the polls). Watching Jeb up on stage looking around like, "is this real life?" was unreal. But Trump was smart. All of those people felt connected to him from his TV success and viewed him as a successful business person, media reports be-damned and they jumped at an opportunity to get a non-political person into office. He ran on that basis and it worked. And man...they're definitely loyal.

So whatever, good for him. But when you look at the idea of someone else coming out of nowhere and competing at this level, it's tough. I honestly don't know how they would do it, short of having a tremendous following to start with and an unbelievable amount of financial support.

I'd like to see the numbers by state, to see if the ones who have at least been at this for a while are seeing any success.

I didn't either. Until Arnold took over. Was a decently entertaining show.

But I've been familiar with donny my whole life, having been born n raised in Jersey.

I always have avoided anything having to do with him. Complete trash.

So another 60 days if we start to plateau right now to possibly open everything back up with no risk of another wave...but no signs of that right now.

If we open up in May like they want we are going to be ****** long term.
