As I mentioned in my previous post on the closed thread, I'd like to have a discussion on this topic that focuses on news, updates, and things going on with any of you personally, etc.

As a result, please keep that the focus in this thread and try and refrain from any political debates, arguments, etc. Again, as I said before, I'm more interested in keeping us connected on a personal level rather than arguing over the political side of things. Obviously posting news, relevant tweets, etc. is certainly fine as well.

Also, I will be instructing the mods to let me be the only one to moderate this thread, so if there are any issues, I will be the one who will be responding to it. I think all of you know me well enough to know that I'm about as fair and level-headed as it gets and certainly won't come down on anyone unless it's necessary. So if everyone can just be cool and keep it simple without killing each other, I'd appreciate it. ;)

I think this is a great idea. As this is a large community and communal support is far and few, this would be very useful.

We'll see how it goes, but as I said in the post at the end of the other one, I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to make sure all of us get through this together and to be there to support each other if any of us or anyone we know experiences any serious health issues.

I wish the govt and the media would more graphically (but not sensationally) describe the course of the disease and the symptoms. From what I've read even many of the so-called "mild" cases sound really really miserable. If more people knew that maybe they'd be more willing to comply with distancing.

My son tested positive. He’s an adult living with us to save $$ for a down payment for a house. I still can’t get tested. Anything you read about confirmed cases doesn’t count people like me that aren’t in healthcare and not very sick. I’m just sick sick. I’m assuming myself positive. I’m told that if you get this and recover from it, you won’t get it again.

I went to a wedding on the fifteenth. My son and I think that’s where we picked it up. They had guests there from the Seattle area. I have been in complete quarantine since the 17th. My wife is still asymptotic despite being stuck here with us.

My wife and I are retired and have quarantined ourselves inside for the most part. She goes out shopping once a week with an older friend who is also self quarantined. Sanitary wipes and gloves to help. We walk early in the morning for excersize and are usually alone.......when meeting neighbors walking their dogs we keep the 6 ft rule of seperation....plenty of movies and tv to watch and it does get boring at times but if everyone does their part we'll get through this ok and healthy......haven't heard of anyone we know that has contacted this virus in Mass but I am sure it is lurking out there somewhere. :)

That sucks...how long has it been since you and your son first started feeling symptoms? Are you both feeling any better or is it still too early to say?

They won't, and it's useless to beat that dead horse. It's up to us to institute leadership and support on the state and town level, and especially on a communal level.

Hence this thread, which I think is a great idea.

Three people in my town tested positive last week and one is in ICU so there's more out there, due to the testing process we just don't know. A family friend is in ICU as of yesterday with respiratory problems, they tested him and we're waiting for results to see if its covid. Granted he's older but its spreading.

I was talking to a MGH doctor yesterday. She expects things to get really bad. She is a pediatric neurologist and has been doing all her work through online meetings.

All surgery that is not consided urgent is being postponed because they need the ICU beds.

I saw an article (sorry, don't have the link) where a Seattle doctor was saying that 70% of people who get put on a ventilator ultimately die. :(
